Tracy Smith

Poole Stadium Day Nursery

Tracy Smith

My name is Tracy and I am the manager of Cuddles newest site and third nursery setting at Poole Stadium.

I started working for Cuddles in June 2009 and  thoroughly enjoy working with my team. We have a very open and friendly environment where we work with children from 2-4 years. The location which is less than a 10 minute walk from Poole makes it ideal for busy parents who work in the town centre as well as those who live in the locality. We have a broad mix of children from a variety of cultural backgrounds and enjoy the variety that this brings to the setting.

I qualified to NVQ Level 3 in London in 2003, and have been working in child care for more than 16 years. I worked my way up from apprentice to Team Leader in London and since working for Cuddles I have gone from Team Leader to becoming Manager of the Stadium setting in 2016.

I look forward to meeting you and introducing you to our team and the children when you visit.

Tracy is our nursery manager at Cuddles, Poole Stadium and has been at Cuddles for 8 years. Tracy has her work cut out as it’s the only Cuddles site that we don’t own, which means that Tracy and her team have to arrive super early each day to set up the nursery so that everything’s ready for when the children arrive.  We asked Tracy:

How long have you worked at Cuddles?
I have worked at Cuddles for 8 years

What made you decide on a career in childcare?
I have always enjoyed working with children

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Watching how the children grow and develop.

What activities do you personally think help children to develop in their early years?
I believe if a child is happy and secure then they are ready to learn.

Indoor play or outdoor play – which do you prefer and why?
I enjoy both but probably enjoy outdoors a little more as I prefer to be outdoors myself.

Having just been awarded outstanding by Ofsted, what would you say makes your nursery the best choice for parents who are deciding on where to send their children?
My team! They are always on hand to help and build great relationships with the children and parents.  Setting up activities and extending the children’s learning all through the children’s interest.

Christmas will be here before we know it. What would be your recommendation as the ‘perfect’ Christmas toy for pre-school children to expand their creativity and learning?
Books,! Stories are always good and you can extend by making up your own and you are not restricted to where you can have a story.

Describe a typical day at Cuddles Poole Stadium.
Busy,  Messy,  Learning, Making Friends, and most of all having FUN

What do you enjoy most when not at work?
Spending time with my family and friends
