A Vision For Vincent is a local charity that was started by Carl and Tanya Appleby when their son Vinnie was diagnosed with Leukaemia. Sadly, Vinnie lost his battle with Leukaemia in January 2016, however the charity, which was set up in his name, continues to raise funds to help teenagers and young adults.
.
Funds raised by A Vision For Vincent are put towards developing a dedicated cancer unit at Poole Hospital with surroundings and facilities that are more appropriate for teenagers and young adults. During the first year, the charity raised over £35,000 through activities such as skydives, cake sales, raffles and many other local events and in July 2017, two Teenage & Young
Adult In-Patient Cancer facilities were opened at Poole hospital, thanks to a £180,000 donation from the charity
At the end of 2017, Cuddles Day Nurseries adopted A Vision For Vincent as our chosen charity. We raised a£2000 at our Christmas nativities and at our Christmas fayre which will be sent direct to A Vision For Vincent. In 2018 this will be our chosen charity and we will continue to raise money for this great cause.
.
Along with our fundraising events, we also have the ‘One Day At A Time’ cd for sale at all the nurseries for a cost of £3. This song has been written by Emma Buckley and she sang it at Vinnie’s funeral. The song made such an impact that Emma and the family decided to continue Vinnie’s fundraising dreams by recording and releasing ‘One Day At A Time’ for charity. All the proceeds from the sale of the single go to the Teenage Cancer Trust who provide life changing care and support so young people and their families don’t have to face cancer alone.
